The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise, we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them. – Thomas Merton

Show a Little Love

Valentine’s day is this week.  Traditionally, a time to think of a loved one or special friend. Let’s take that up a notch. Take a little time to connect with the people in your circle who are closest to you. Send them a little love, well wishes, funny memory, or small gift or card. Consider new traditions – ones that focus on letting some of the most important people in your life know just how much they mean to you. Dinner with friends? A lunch date to catch up with someone you haven’t seen in a while? A few phone calls just to let people know you’re thinking of them? This month doesn’t have to reserved just for a significant other or spouse. It takes a village these days to live as happy and whole people. Tell your tribe they mean the world to you in as many ways as you can this month. You might surprise yourself with how uplifted you feel in the process. Enjoy!

Something to Think About

Life is all about the people we share it with. It’s a good week to step back for a few moments and pay attention to the folks that matter most. It’s easy in the hustle of our everyday lives to leave connections unattended for long stretches. Reach out.

Weekly Activity

Don’t keep all the love just for family and friends! We all have a few clients and customers who have gone the extra mile, sent the extra referrals, or were just memorable and fun and who you thoroughly enjoyed working with. Connect with them this week with a phone call, personal note, card, or even a lunch invite! You’ll be glad you did.

Words of Wisdom

We’re all a little weird, and life’s a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love. – Dr. Seuss

Looking Long Term

Good morning, and what a fantastic day it is!  Where do you see your life in 5 years? 10 years? Where do you see your business in 5-10 years? Have you taken the time to create long-term goals with action steps?  I have found that many people are hesitant to commit to long-term goals, due to the fear of the unknown.  Who knows what the market will be? What changes might occur in your personal life? What if I tell everyone what I am going to do, and I don’t accomplish it? While it’s true that life is a series of twists and turns, there’s nothing wrong with mapping out a course for your life. Zig Ziglar said it best when he said, “Go as far as you can see. When you get there, you’ll be able to see farther!” What a simple concept. How far into your future can you see today? If you were standing there right now, as far into the future as you could see, what would your future look like? Now, map it out!

Something to Think About

Don’t let uncertainty keep you from setting distant goals and putting plans in place. Life may still deliver a few plot twists, but some of those can hold tremendous lessons and open doors we didn’t see coming. Stay rooted in the goals and be flexible about your means of reaching them.

Weekly Activity

Take the time this week to map out one long term goal. It’s like estate planning or financial planning. None of us know what the future holds, but we do know our dreams and wishes. Be daring. Determine on goal, tell others about it, and develop a few action steps to move in that direction. Ready, set, GO!

New Years resolution

I don't believe in New Year's resolutions. I think if you want to change something, change it today and don't wait until the New Year.
~ Georgina Bloomberg

Wow. Here we are- at the end of the first month of the New Year! How has your month gone? This new year is sure to be filled with opportunity and blessings – and I’m sure our fair share of challenges. That’s all part of what life is about though, right? Ebb and flow. Your Present Circumstances

Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.  ~ Nido Qubein

What’s in Your Control?

One of the toughest things for most people is managing their emotions and actions that revolve around things that are outside their control. It’s frustrating and scary for most of us, enough so that it is a frontrunner in the cause of stress in people today. We can’t control the traffic, the weather, or what other people say, think or do. Yet, we are SO wrapped around the axle trying. Make this the year you get super mindful about letting go of the things you can’t control, and those things that no longer serve you. It takes practice, but you’ll soon come to find your blood pressure dropping, your joy rising, and your results more consistent. So how do you do it? It’s not magic – it’s mindfulness. It’s CHOOSING to find the good, see the positive, and stay in the moment – rather than let influences of negativity and worry take the wheel. It’s about carefully choosing your thoughts and actions and learning the incredible gift of releasing the emotion connected to the outcome of things.

Something to Think About

What CAN you control? Your thoughts. Your actions. Your mindset. And the things you fuel your mind and body with daily – even hourly. Give the keys to control over to those things and let go of the rest. If there’s any way I can help you with all of that – I’m all ears. Give me a shout!

Weekly Challenge

Make a list this week of things that have been weighing on you that you have no control over and make it a conscious effort to replace each one of those things in your mental checklist with something positive that you can act upon.

Stay Positive

Positive Energy

This week let’s focus on something that is so important in our lives. It’s free, all around us, and a force of nature so powerful it can change the course of your life. It’s Positive Energy. While, to some, that may seem a little out there, the science behind happiness, smiling, laughing, and positive energy is indisputable!  It’s a funny thing, you know – so often people fight for their limitations or the things that bring them stress and grief! They lock in on the fact that they have a RIGHT to feel those things – and of course, most of the time they do. Here’s the thing – we all have just as much RIGHT to fight for the good stuff. For the ability to be happy. For the choice to be positive. For the purpose of living joyfully. Is it always easy in our world? Nope. Not by a long shot. There are media outlets and social media posts, and new cycles that are bent on tying people to the sky-is-falling mental state. The cool part is we get to change the channel. We get to choose our direction. We get to lean into the positive and let go of the negative. It takes some practice – but oh boy is it worth it! This week fill your mind and schedule with the good stuff. Keep a gratitude journal. Find five things each day that light you up with positive energy. You might surprise yourself and want to keep that practice going all year! I know I do! Have a great week!

Something to Think About

Sometimes you have to say NO to some things in order to say YES to the things that matter. Are there negative influences in your life that you might need to shutter in order to make your 2019 your best year yet? Consider carefully what and who gets to make the journey with you this year.

Weekly Challenge

Reach out to at least ten people in your sphere and offer to send them a Home Price Analysis, letting them know that every homeowner should start the year knowing what their home is worth in the current market.

Motivation - Why Mistakes Are A Good Thing

You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry, don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way. ~ Walter Hagen

Mistakes Are Worth Making

As we head into the fresh, new year, I found this excerpt from author Neil Gaiman that I thought was profound and a great way to keep perspective this year. I wanted to share “his wish” with you this week!“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things happen, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, and changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something.  So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, love, work, family or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, this year, next year, and forever.”  Wishing you a wonderful week ahead – I’m here if you need anything!

Something to Think About

What a great thought for the New Year. Don’t worry about if it will work or not. Just jump in and try new thoughts, new ideas, new strategies, new mindsets, new opportunities all on for size. When you do – you’ll grow and change and invite potential into your life every day.

Weekly Challenge

Step out of your prospecting comfort zone. Is there a new niche you’ve always wanted to break into? Is there a neighborhood farm that you’ve had your eye on for a while? Can you brave adding FSBOs and Expireds to your call list? Pick at least one thing differently to move you in a new direction and don’t be afraid to make a mistake. They’re awesome teachers!

Words of Wisdom

I think my mother... made it clear that you have to live life by your own terms and you have to not worry about what other people think and you have to have the courage to do the unexpected. Caroline Kennedy

When you begin to worry, go find something to do. Get busy being a blessing to someone; do something fruitful. Talking about your problem or sitting alone, thinking about it, does no good; it serves only to make you miserable. Above all else, remember that worrying is totally useless. Worrying will not solve your problem.  Joyce Meyer

Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy. Leo Buscaglia.

The Direction of Your Goals

January is all abuzz with talk about goals and resolutions. For good reason! Goals put a powerful force into play both consciously and subconsciously. Goals give our life direction, and it gives you a sense of satisfaction when that goal is achieved. What would you like to attract into your life? What area of growth would you like to have happen this year? What blocks would you like to remove?  What would you like to attain? Where would you like to go? What problems would you like to see solved? What about your career? Write it down. Take a piece of paper, a few hours of your time, and write it all down - as an affirmation of you, your life, and your ability to choose. We love to help agents succeed and realize their BIG goals and dreams, and we’re pretty successful at helping them to create that vision that propels them to accomplish more than they ever thought possible. If you need some help, I’m just a call away!

Something to Think About

It’s said that the most important part of a goal is to write it down. Those who write their goals are twice as likely to achieve their goals!

Weekly Challenge

Write those goals and find a corresponding image for each to help make them come to life. Consider putting them on a vision board and posting it somewhere you can see it often to help you stay the course all year around!

The Season of Christmas

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.
~Calvin Coolidge

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! There’s a little child in all of us I think, don’t you? Today, I wanted to share a Christmas classic with you – the “Linus Speech” from A Charlie Brown Christmas. In his quiet, unassuming, and kind way, Linus meets Charlie Brown’s frustration and shares the “true meaning of Christmas”. It gets me every time. I hope you enjoy this iconic childhood memory as much as I did.

Watch it here:

Peace on earth and good will towards all men. I like that thought. Wishing you a week of joy, peace, celebration – and yes, even a little nostalgia! I’m here if you need anything!

Something to Think About

Ours is a hustle and bustle business. Long hours and a hectic pace. Sometimes one of the best things we can do for ourselves, our family, and our business – is to SLOW DOWN. Perhaps choosing a classic holiday movie favorite and enjoying it with the ones you love might be just the ticket! Have fun.

Weekly Challenge

Share this classic clip with your friends and family, and maybe a few favorites of your own! Like when the Grinch’s heart grows three sizes! Or when Clarence the angel gets his wings in It’s a Wonderful Life.
